Kissamos is truly special because it serves as an essential gateway to some of Crete's most famous and breathtaking natural wonders, including the exotic Balos Lagoon and the pristine Falassarna Beach. This charming town offers a unique blend of authentic local life, where traditional culture and day-to-day living remain vibrant.
Its rich history is clearly evident in the numerous archaeological sites scattered throughout the area, which provide a fascinating glimpse into ancient civilizations and past eras.
In the Kissamos region, there are miles and miles of untamed coastline, with stunning and diverse landscapes awaiting exploration. The area's rolling hills and dramatic gorges offer excellent opportunities for nature walks and challenging hikes, appealing to outdoor enthusiasts and those looking to connect with the natural environment.

One of our retreat participants shared, “This is the first time I haven’t had to think in so long. All I had to do was decide what I would eat for lunch and what souvenirs I wanted to take home.”

Movement and Meditation
Movement is medicine for our body. Our morning exercises will offer the physical support needed for the day's activities. Through meditation, we'll set intentions for the experiences that lie ahead. In the evening, we will reconvene to reflect on the day and ready our minds and bodies for rest and rejuvenation. On select days, we will have the pleasure of hosting local guest instructors to lead us in movement and meditation sessions.
Local Cuisine
The food in Kissamos is known for its authentic, fresh, and high-quality ingredients, emphasizing a "farm-to-table" philosophy. Many dishes are deeply rooted in traditional Cretan cuisine, reflecting the region’s rich culinary heritage. Highlights include incredibly fresh seafood caught daily, savory slow-cooked meats such as tender rabbit and richly flavored stifado, deliciously seasoned vegetable dishes, and a range of homemade specialties like local cheeses and sun-dried tomatoes that showcase the unique flavors of the area.
